Phase: Detailed Design & Tender Consultation
Programme: Passive House Certified Private Residence
Location: Seignosse
Year: 2021–2022
Located in the pine forests of Seignosse, this passive-certified residence was conceived as a careful dialogue between architecture, landscape, and environmental performance. The project seeks to preserve the wild and natural character of the site while creating a calm, refined living environment deeply connected to its surroundings.
Set within the distinctive coastal landscape of the Landes region, the house opens generously onto the pine forest, natural light, and outdoor living spaces, embracing a lifestyle shaped by nature, privacy, and proximity to the Atlantic coast.
The design process focused on achieving high thermal performance through a precise and carefully detailed timber construction system, developed in collaboration with structural and environmental engineers. Particular attention was given to the building envelope, solar orientation, natural ventilation, and the relationship between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape.
Beyond its technical ambitions, the project aimed to combine architectural quality, long-term durability, and construction efficiency within a restrained and contemporary architectural language.
Early collaboration with contractors and consultants allowed the technical solutions to be optimized from the earliest design stages, ensuring consistency between performance objectives, construction methods, and budget requirements.
The result is a contemporary forest home combining passive-house standards with a warm and understated architectural atmosphere — designed for a sustainable lifestyle within the unique environment of the French Atlantic coast.
